DubHacks is a 24-hour collegiate hackathon held at the University of Washington, Seattle promoting diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. We bring together and inspire students of all backgrounds to develop creative tools that solve society’s biggest issues.

What's going down

Participants will have the opportunity to create projects based on their choice of a variety of tracks! In addition, we will have corporate-sponsored challenges to be announced the day of our event.

Data Track

Data is being generated faster than ever with every click, tap, and swipe on your screen. This track focuses on finding ways to understand and utilize this data to inform and empower others.

Accessibility Track

Modern technology can help us identify and address issues of inequality and accessibility within our local communities. In choosing this track, you are working to create a more equitable and inclusive future for all.

Classic Track

Our ability to make a difference in our communities depends on our individual experiences and backgrounds. This track gives you the freedom to tackle the social good issue most important to you in whatever way you wish.

Who can attend?

We encourage and welcome undergraduate students of all backgrounds to join us. Unfortunately, we are unable to admit high school or graduate students.

How much does DubHacks cost?

Admission is completely free and includes meals, drinks, snacks, workspace, swag, and WiFi.

Do I apply with a team?

No, applications are submitted and reviewed individually.

What should I bring?

In order to check-in, you must bring a photo ID. We recommend that you also bring a laptop, chargers, toiletries, change of clothes, and anything else you will need for an overnight weekend.

What is the code of conduct?

DubHacks values the importance of a safe and all-inclusive space. Anyone attending must adhere to our code of conduct.

When do applications close?

Applications close September 9, 2018 at 11:59PM (PST).

What if I don’t know how to code?

Interest in learning and working with technology is much more important than your current experience level. No experience is needed — you will be able to work with various mentors, interact with companies, and learn alongside fellow participants.

Do you offer travel reimbursement?

Yes. Travel reimbursement will be assessed separately from your application, and will be provided on a case by case basis. If you are traveling from Vancouver BC, a shuttle bus will be provided.

How big are the teams?

You may work individually or on a team of no more than five people.

Are we allowed to build on past projects?

You cannot work, copy, or iterate on past projects. Using your own APIs or third-party APIs is allowed, as long as the project is completely new. Please refer to MLH’s policy for more information.

Will you have hardware equipment to use?

Yes. Our partners at MLH will have a limited stock of Oculus Rifts, Myo armbands, Lead Motions, Arduinos, 3D printers, and more to loan out to attendees at our event.

What if I need special accommodations?

DubHacks aims to be accessible and welcoming for everyone. Please list any special accommodations in your application, or contact us with any other concerns.
